Rita

Architect graduated from Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa in 1998, with an Erasmus exchange at the Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Rita Conceição Silva began her professional career working with architect Miguel Saraiva, where between 1998 and 2000 she participated in various architectural projects. The majority of her professional activity was developed at the Frederico Valsassina Arquitectos studio for 20 years, from 2000 to 2020, where she participated in and developed a wide range of projects with different complexities and dimensions, from the preliminary study phase to overseeing the construction, coordinating teams, especially in the rehabilitation of buildings.

In residential and mixed-use complexes, notable projects include the Alcantara-Rio Building, the Pinhol building complex, the rehabilitation of the Auchan building, and the rehabilitation of the Convento das Mónicas, all in collaboration with Aires Mateus & Associados, the Mundicentre Building, Av. da Liberdade 203, the Palacete on Rua Garcia de Orta, the rehabilitation of the building at Av. da República 37 (SECIL Award), Rua Duques de Bragança, the Promenada Building on Av. 24 de Julho, Rua do Salitre 83, and the conversion of the former CUF Hospital into a private residential condominium, among others.

In office, service, and school building projects, highlights include the Logoplaste Campus in Cascais, Banco Finantia, the Alcatel Headquarters, the design competition for the Nova School of Business and Economics in Carcavelos, and the rehabilitation of the former Napolitana Factory into the Lisbon International School.

She has also participated in various hospitality projects, such as the rehabilitation of buildings on Rua do Salitre 62 for a hotel, Rua Rodrigues Sampaio for a hotel, Rua Alexandre Herculano for a hotel, and a new building on Rua Rodrigues Faria for an aparthotel in Lisbon.

Always ready for new challenges, Rita is demanding of herself, motivating everyone around her. Architecture is not just a profession; it is also the expression of her creativity and the organized way she approaches life. She balances her projects with an active family life and still finds time for friends, preferably attending a concert, on a padel court, in the sea with her bodyboard, running along the coast, or simply exploring the Portuguese coastline on long walks.
