Mariana

Architect specialized in the field of Rehabilitation, Restoration, and Recovery of Architectural Heritage, Mariana Morgado Pedroso began her professional career working with architect Manuel Salgado, where between 2004 and 2008 she participated in numerous urban design projects. Subsequently, and until 2012, she collaborated at the Frederico Valsassina Arquitectos studio, joining teams on building rehabilitation projects. The intensive work of nearly a decade alongside some of the most prestigious architecture firms in Portugal affirmed her capability and experience, as well as her expertise in executing large projects, some of which have been awarded, such as the Palácio do Contador-Mor, for which she was responsible.

Alongside her studio activity, she taught Architecture in the Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program at the Instituto Superior Técnico (2006-2009).

She specialized in Conservation and Recovery of Built Heritage at the same academic institution. This specialization in the restoration of historic buildings has marked her career as an architect. Since 2012, she has worked independently with various clients, developing both new building projects and heritage rehabilitation projects. Among her individual projects, highlights include the restoration of historic buildings in Lisbon, as well as two new buildings for the historic center of Cascais. In the area of Heritage, she worked on projects such as the recovery of the Robillon Pavilion – Cafeteria and Auditorium of the National Palace of Queluz, and the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art at the Henrique Calado Riding Arena in Lisbon.

In addition to her professional experience and the valuable knowledge acquired over the past decade, Mariana combines a market vision and entrepreneurial skills that make her a winning formula. It was in this context, defying all predictions and overcoming challenges, that at the end of 2012, she introduced the Architect Your Home brand in Portugal, a UK-based architecture and interior design services company. In 2023, she took over the parent company in the UK (with a global turnover of £30M and 6,500 projects developed over 20 years), becoming the owner and CEO of the brand, with offices in Portugal and London. The success has been evident, with over 600 projects developed in Portugal, in a team of more than 30 architects, and a global turnover of €8M.

A passionate surfer, Mariana draws lessons from the sea, believing that it’s always possible to overcome obstacles when one believes they can do more and better. This is something she continues to do daily, sharing her success with her two daughters, Maria and Matilde, and her life and wave companion, Ricardo.
