Henrique Calado Riding Arena

The project is about the transformation of an existing horse arena in Calçada da Ajuda to the space Porturguese School of Equestrian Art (EPAE).

The conditions of the facilities and the conservation of these buildings led to the need of a major restauration and adaptation project to receive the performances of the EPAE with dignity.
This project is based on a refined architectural concept in terms of reading the space’s occupation, essentially addressing the centrality of the show area. In spatial terms, only the tops of the building are occupied, which house the program areas dedicated to the public and all the necessary support infrastructures.

A discreet and modern image is adopted, so that the focus is on the show that takes place in the arena.
